A journey through fashion, education and change

My journey in fashion has never been only about making clothes. It has been about understanding how they are made, why they are made, and what happens when we begin to question the systems behind them.

I came to fashion through design and making, developing a deep interest in pattern cutting, construction and the relationship between an idea and the finished garment. Over time, that practice grew into a broader curiosity about the industry itself, its possibilities, its contradictions and its responsibility for the future.

From making to teaching

Education became a natural extension of that journey. Since 2019, I have been teaching at IED Milan, working with fashion design students across areas including eco design, circular fashion, pattern making, tailoring and collection development.

Teaching has changed the way I think about fashion. Working with students keeps me curious. It means constantly asking how we can make complex ideas understandable, how we can connect theory with practice, and how designers can develop the skills and confidence to question established ways of working.

Fashion needs new ways of thinking

My work today sits at the intersection of fashion design, education and sustainability. I am particularly interested in circular approaches to design, not as a trend or a set of isolated techniques, but as a way of reconsidering how we design, produce, use and value clothing.

I believe meaningful change comes from combining knowledge with practical action. Designers need to understand the environmental and social consequences of their decisions, but they also need the tools to imagine and create alternatives.

Why I do what I do

I believe we all have a responsibility to improve the part of the world we know best. For me, that is fashion.

Through teaching, speaking, writing, collaboration and expert work, I try to create spaces where people can ask better questions, challenge assumptions and turn ideas into action.

I do not believe there is one simple solution to the challenges facing fashion. But I do believe that curiosity, education and a willingness to experiment can move us forward.

And that is what continues to motivate me: helping people see that change is possible, and giving them the knowledge and confidence to be part of it.
